Jerusalem hosts: The European Athletics U20 2023 will take place in Givat Ram stadium between 7-10 August.
After the great success and many praises for hosting the European Athletics U18 championships the last summer, the city of Jerusalem and the Israeli athletics association will host another luxurious European championship.
The usual, customary choice of the hosting city and country didn’t make the selection process in Jerusalem.
During the European Athletics U18 championships in July, an organizational challenge arose in hosting the U20 championships in Cluj, Romania.
The challenges have been brought to the IAA. After the success of hosting the U18 championships in Givat- Ram stadium, the European Athletics Association representatives ‘checked the grounds for the possibility of moving the hosting city for the U20 titles in 2023.
During the past summer throughout the past weeks, Romania tried hosting the championships with no success.
Therefore, the European Athletics Association changed the hosting city to Jerusalem. Thanks to Jerusalem municipality and the ministry of culture and sports for working day and night to find the funds the second year in a row and on such short notice. The capital of Israel will host again this summer a European Athletics championships.
Moshe Leon, the mayor of Jerusalem:” We are thrilled and proud to host the European Athletics U20 Championships. Jerusalem has turned in the past few years into the capital of sports in this country, hosting national and international events in different sports fields.
