Just a few hours before the official announcement at the opening ceremony of opening the European Athletics U20 Championships Jerusalem 2023 at the Givat Ram National stadium. The mayor of Jerusalem Mr Moshe Lion has met with the president of European Athletics Mr. Dubromir Karamarinov and the IAA chairman Mr. Ami Baran.
The Mayor congratulated for the second time the choice of Jerusalem as the hosting city for the championships. (last year U18 and this year U20) and thanked the EA president for the close collaboration and cooperation and the warm feeling towards athletics.
One of the topics was hosting the European Athletics U23 in 2027 in Jerusalem.

Ami Baran – the IAA chairman:” I thank the Mayor of Jerusalem for this important meeting with the EA President. We see great potential and will from the municipality in hosting future championships such as U23. I thank EA and president Karamarinov and look forward to our future collaborations.
