My Dear Friends
It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem. It has been one year since Israel hosted the European Athletics U18 Championships and we see this year’s Championships yet another stepping stone to the overall growth of Athletics in Israel and Europe.
On behalf of the Israel Athletics Association and the Local Organizing Committee in Jerusalem, I would like to extend a warm greeting to each and every one of you who will be attending this great event.
The European Athletics U20 Championships brings together the young athletes from around Europe, all of whom will have trained hard and sacrificed much to qualify. Their dedication and passion for the sport is an inspiration to us all, and it is our honor to provide a platform for their talents to shine.
The Givat Ram athletics stadium has become a prominent stadium after the successful U18 Championships in 2022 and has literally enhanced the exposure and development of the sport in Israel and specifically in Jerusalem. The incredible cooperation between Israel Athletics, the Jerusalem Municipality and European Athletics is one to be admired and without it these dreams would not be possible.
As we come closer to the Championships, let us remember that sports are not only about winning and losing, but also about the spirit of fair play, and respect for others.
May this Championship be a celebration of human excellence and a showcase of the best that European Athletics has to offer. I wish all of the athletes the very best of luck, and I hope that you will all enjoy the exciting competition ahead in Jerusalem.
