Jerusalem is proud to host the exclusive European Athletics U20 Championships 2023.
Jerusalem Municipalry and Israel Athletics Association signed an agreement yesterday to host the European athletics U20 Championships in 2023.
After hosting European Athletics U18 Championships last year, Jerusalem is pleased to host the even more exclusive championships – U20.
The European Athletics U20 Championships will take place between the 7-10/8/2023 and will be a sneak peek at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024. Many of the participants in the forthcoming championships are nominated to participate in 2024.
In the championships will be the most outstanding athletes from all over Europe, and it will be a way to make entry standards for the Olympic Games in Paris.
In the signing ceremony participated the Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Moshe Leon; the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Elisha Peleg; the Chairman of the Israel Athletics Association, Mr. Ami Baron; the head of the international department in IAA, Mr. Jack Cohen and the Head of culture and sports department in Jerusalem municipally, Ms. Arierla Rajuan.
Jerusalem, Who hosted the U18 Championships last year, gets to host the more exclusive championships this year in the Givaat Ram Athletics stadium.
The stadium was renovated to the highest standards and reopened on June 2022.
It was widely upgraded by Jerusalem municipality with Moria company. These upgrades included building a new tribune with a roof and 3,600 seats, Qualifying and upgrading the track to take it on an international standard (Class 2), Management offices, Lockes, physiotherapy rooms, tests room, and equipment storage.

The innovation of sports in Jerusalem continues. I am happy to announce that hosting European Athletics U20 Championships, which is coming back after hosting the U18 last year, is because of the event’s tremendous success.

Jerusalem is back hosting European Athletics championships. We see in that acknowledgment the professionalism and achievements of Israelis in Athletics.
The very essence of having this kind of event in Jerusalem, Is the international approval of Jerusalem as the capital of sports, which can handle this kind of championships on the highest level, And create the infrastructures and facilities for athletes in Israel to progress and succeed in competitions.
